# Eine 50 x 50 cm große und ca. 30 cm tiefe Grube ausheben. Wichtig: Nicht in die Grube treten, um Verdichtung zu vermeiden!
# Um ein Aufschwemmen des Bodens zu verhindern, wird er mit einer Kiesschicht abgedeckt. Ein Messstab wird in den Boden geschlagen. 10 cm oberhalb der Grubensohle wird eine Markierung am Messstab angebracht.
# Nun wird die Grube mit Wasser gefüllt und 1-2 Stunden durch regelmäßiges Nachfüllen vorgewässert (Gartenschlauch).
# Wasser nun bis zur Markierung einfüllen. Mit einem Messeimer nach 10 Minuten so viel Wasser auffüllen, wie nötig ist, um den Wasserstand wieder bis zur Markierung zu heben. Aus der nachgefüllten Wassermenge lässt sich die Durchlässigkeit des Bodens abschätzen.
# Schritt 4 so oft wiederholen (mindestens 3 Mal), bis sich ein konstanter Wert einstellt.
Bewertung:
Wassermenge < 1,5 Liter in 10 Minuten: kaum Versickerung möglich (Schluff)<br />
Wassermenge = 1,5 Liter in 10 Minuten: Versickerung möglich (schluffiger Sand)<br />
Wassermenge > 3 Liter in 10 Minuten: Versickerung gut möglich (Sand, Kies)<br />

#Cover the soil with a gravel layer to prevent soil flotation. Insert a measuring rod into the ground. 10 cm above the pit bottom place a mark on the measuring rod.
#Now fill the pit with water and replenish for 1-2 hours regularly (e.g. garden hose).
#Fill water up to the mark. After 10 minutes, fill as much water as necessary to raise the water level back to the mark using a measuring bucket. The soil permeability can be estimated from the quantity of refilled water.
#Repeat step 4 as many times (at least 3 times), until a consistent value is established.
Evaluation:
Water quantity < 1.5 litres in 10 minutes: little infiltration possible (silt)<br />
Water quantity = 1.5 litres in 10 minutes: infiltration possible (silty sand)<br />
Water quantity > 3 litres in 10 minutes: good infiltration possible (sand, gravel)<br />
