Pipework and accessories

On the way to fixtures the rainwater flows through different pipes. The supply of the extraction points in a rainwater harvesting system is supplied over a so-called non-potable water network. The non-potable network must be made of corrosion-resistant, opaque material. The suction line of the pump should be inserted into a conduit in case of leakage. Optimal usage is with high-quality, kink-proof EPDM rubber material (PVC hose is not suggested due to chemical material softeners!). The EPDM hose cannot be closed together with suction from the pump, but guarantees the flexibilty for floating suction removal and easy installation through a conduit. EPDM hose also dampens pressure surges caused by switching on submersible pumps. In the case of suction pumps, a flexible reinforced hose should be used as insulation between the pump and the non-potable pipework. For quick-shutting fixtures or unfavourably installed pipework, an expansion vessel may be required between the controller and the fixtures. Pipes and conduits should be sealed within the home using a wall bushing.
