With specialized domestic water units for non-potable usage, e.g. the RAINMASTER series, the “air-gap” according to the drinking water standard DIN EN 1717<ref name="DIN1717">DIN EN 1717</ref> in conjunction with the installation standard DIN EN 13077<ref name="DIN13077">DIN EN 13077</ref> is already integrated in the unit. These are considered with an integrated feed tank. This guarantees enough drinking water is available to cover the required needs of the non-potable water (rainwater, greywater or other non-potable water) in case there is no more for supply. The adherence to the standards must be done by a known certification authority (e.g. DVGW). The certification also considers tests for surge pressure behaviour and drinking water compatibility of the materials (KTW certification).
